I’m actually getting rid of some books!! I find this incredibly difficult to do, as if I have yet to read a book then it could still be something I love, and I have loved the majority of books I’ve read. However, I need to be realistic with myself and only keep ones I enjoyed and that I will actually read. So, coming up will be a list of TEN books that are leaving my house. I let a friend have a look through the pile so she’s taking 4 books, and the other 6 are going to a secondhand bookshop or a charity shop.

the deerslayerThe Deerslayer by James Fenimore Cooper

I picked this up purely because it was old, pretty and 30p. In reality, I’m never going to get round to this large book with a synopsis that doesn’t intrigue me and I may as well donate it and allow someone who is excited to read it to own in.

lesseks keyLessek’s Key by Robert Scott and Jay Gordon

Although the synopsis of this book does intrigue me, it’s the second book in a series and in 2 years I’ve not found book 1 in a charity shop or wanted to go buy it new so I think it’s time for it to go to a better home.

showdownShowdown by Ted Dekker

Another book where the synopsis looks interesting, however, when compared to other books I already have on my physical TBR this is not something I’m going to be picking up anytime soon and I don’t want it taking up space on my shelves

the book of secretsThe Book of Secrets by Tom Harper

This book looked very interesting at the time of purchase… but it doesn’t anymore. Simple as. Time to let somebody else enjoy it!

fingersmithFingersmith by Sarah Waters

This is a book I can see myself liking. But… it’s also a book I can see myself leaving on my shelves for a decade and never actually picking up.

the time traveler's wifeThe Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

We’ve all heard the hype for this book, and many have seen the movie. Although I do like the concept I’ve seen many reviews saying that it isn’t done well, and I would rather chance it on the movie than the book. So for probably the first, and maybe only, time, I’m ignoring the book and maybe watching the movie.

fallenFallen by Lauren Kate

Another one picked up purely because I had heard the hype, but when I was going through my books I realised that this is no longer something I’m interested in. This genre was really for me a few years ago, but I won’t enjoy it now.

The above seven books I bought from charity shops, for £2 or less, so I don’t feel so bad that I’ve not really read them before unhauling (I gave Fallen a go and did not enjoy). These next three books were bought for me as presents, either by a friend or my mum, and they just weren’t for me. I’ve kept them for many years, but I can’t justify keeping books I don’t like anymore and I know neither of the gifties will be mad at me for letting them go to better homes.

blood water

Blood Water by Dean Vincent Carter

This book just did not entertain me. I did find it a little creepy (which is the intention), but I also found it boring and despite being a thin book it took me a while to get through.

Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino: Volumes 1 & 2

A friend gifted the first two books in this manga to me, however, I sadly didn’t really get into it much and did not enjoy them (I did read both to give it a chance).

And that’s it! All 10 books I’m getting rid of in one way or another. There’s a definite theme with the reasons books are leaving my shelves, depending on whether they’ve been read or not, but if I don’t want to read or re-read them then I don’t want them there. I promise I did not mean to offend anyone by unhauling any of these books! It’s just personal taste, preference, and being realistic about what I can actually read in the time given to me.

Thanks for reading guys! Leave me a comment down below if you agree or disagree with my unhauling of these 10 books!
